Hello from Grand Central Station ⏱☕️πŸš†

I'm working on my Rose Gold πŸŒΉπŸ’°laptop. I pulled it out, like a proud magician, from my new Lilly tech sleeve. The one with the golden zipper and cute neoprene print.

I met Sis and her friend, Nicole, for lunch and then accompanied brave, elegant Sis to her dr. appt. I walked her back to her track here at Grand Central and am now ensconced in Great Northern Food Hall.

With a nice large iced coffee by my side.

I really have to get my ducks in a row for my next round of freelance assignments....contact the sources, review images and material, prepare interview questions. Then write the pieces.

And....I want to continue looking for a full-time job with benefits, but TBH, I'm not sure how to plow that path anymore. Job boards? Personal contacts? Networking? All of the above, I guess.

TCOY
  1. Aveeno Stress Relief body wash.
  2. Walked from Port Authority to Grand Central to meet Sis and then we walked to restaurant and to dr.
  3. Had kale salad at lunch [for appetizer].
  4. Taking this time to work, and contemplate career steps.

  1. Job hunting ideas: see if college alma mater will let you sign up for access to job listings and/or resume and cover letter advice.

Find out from local chamber of commerce who biggest local businesses are, since they are more likely to offer benefits. Check out the businesses websites to see if you are interested in what they do. Then start asking everyone if they know anyone who works for company A because you think the work is interesting. If you find someone, just ask if you can buy coffee and learn about the company, even if no openings.

Don’t forget local government - city hall and school system. Pay likely low, but still offer benefits.

    Good luck!

    1. Liz, thank you for these ideas. I like your perspective. I have an inner struggle going on....I like following my passion.....love magazines...worked on staff at Woman's Day [as you know, w Kim], Seventeen, Good Housekeeping, Sesame Street Parents.....and have written for many more. Of course, the magazine landscape is changing dramatically, with more emphasis on metrics than editors' instincts. I think I will have to apply all over, your ideas and mine, and see where the chips fall. Thank you. Love Alice
