- My name is Alice and I've been writing for most of my life--first, in a little green five-year diary my friend Lorraine gave me for Christmas in 6th grade, then for newspapers, magazines, websites and companies. I've been blogging here, often daily, since Feb. 2010, trying hard to write truthfully, even when it's scary. My husband and I are both freelance writers, so sometimes we can afford salmon for dinner and sometimes we can't. We have two daughters, one (blog name Figgy) an artist and biologist studying cyanobacteria algae and one teenager to whom we are legal guardians (blog name Punch/Skippy). Back after reading Dan’s article, which was great. Succinct, informative, just enough background to the problem. States not wanting to be transparent about failures to protect children is an infuriating reason to prevent data collection. Thanks for the link!
