Dreamwear

I love putting on my mismatched sleepwear every night. It means I’ve done every last chore for the day, and I can rest and refresh.

I signed up for Montclair Parks Appreciation Weekend and asked Punchy’s friends’ mom to join us, too, with her twins, a brother and sister.

P has the potential to do so much in life. But she also has, like most kids I know, the ability to sit on a device for hours and hours and hours, given the chance. And now that we avoid indoor play dates and parties to help contain Covid, it’s even harder. And: They all spend 6 hours online for their zoom schooldays. So I was proud to get us out in Yantacaw Brook Park, one of the most idyllic parks ever.

But I feel it in my legs, that bending and filling leaf bags from 10:30 to 11:45. I enjoyed working with the kids, and seeing them rise to the occasion.

Then the news broke about the election! Horns were beeping all over town! Giddy with excitement, the five of us went to Watchung Plaza and got drinks and lunch outdoors. Then Punch had a double header soccer game (thank you, Montclair Recreation League). Then she went to Playa Bowls with some teammates while Dan got BBQ groceries.

Then Dan scooped her. Two other friends and their Dad came for dinner in back. (Their mom has a big planning role for the show "Chopped" and was in a quarantine bubble in Maine for the summer filming schedule and now in Kentucky and Nashville for months, but back soon.)

Then we watched Biden and Harris (amazing), while intermittently texting the mom and Figgy etc. The kids then went outside and our next-door neighbor shared firecrackers and sparklers.

That was yesterday and today was another fun but busy day, so hello, sleepwear.

Snooze.
