Cocoa in the House

Went to Whole Foods Montclair tonight for Valrhona cocoa powder, imported from France and sold by the pound--needed for batch of biscotti tomorrow. Also doing Turtle Bars from Four Midwestern Sisters' Christmas Book. Too tired to bake right now, so am going to go to bed and set alarm early, in the hopes that I will be more energetic and less stressed out then. Figgy was home sick from school with a stomach virus, H. asked me to drive him into the city since he had two parties to work in midtown and it would be pricey to park there [btw, the gridlock was bad], and I have a doctor's appt. tomorrow and very dirty hair, which I have to wash right now. Part of today's stress: stopped by cop for talking on cell phone on Route 3 back to NJ. He gave me a warning, and said he may or may not give me the $130 ticket. He yelled at me. I don't blame him.  I really want to/have to stop talking on my cell, multi-tasking while putting others at risk.

Good night.

TCOY
  1. Boot camp in the soccer dome. Did enjoy throwing football and kicking soccer ball.
  2. Ice water.
  3. Tried to eat mindfully.
  4. Cried for Dad in car. Missing him. Letting tears out must be a way to TCOY.
  5. Hauled lots of recycling out of our house and out to the curb. Feel lighter.
  6. Picked up and put down Newman's Own ginger sandwich cookies @ Whole Foods, remembering how I ate the whole pack last time--and blogged about it.
  7. Walked Sug around block once.
  8. Burning pretty candy-cane striped tapers.
  9. Not baking tonight! Going to sleep. Should be less stressful this way, I hope, and I will be less likely to drop a cookie tray or burn a batch. I have the kitchen all set up to go, and red tulips in a Christmas pitcher.

  1. I had a cup of Valrhona hot cocoa today at the Union Square Market. With a homemade marshmallow. It was yum.

The pace can be brutal, good that you're pacing yourself!
