Punch is here for a sleepover. We spent hours at Brookdale Park on the playground; Sug came, too. It was a beautiful day. H. and I definitely looked like grandparents, with telltale grays...when did parents get so young, anyway? One dad looked like a guy I would have had a crush on in college...one mom was so petite, a dark, brooding beauty about 22--just like Kristen Stewart. Where was Robert Pattinson?
Mostly I just marvel at the youth and energy of those young parents. But there I was with new earrings and a big bottle of ice water, so I felt okay about myself, too.
Tomorrow Punch turns 6! The time has gone so fast. We had a Carvel ice cream cake and blew candles out with Nikki. H. picked out pretty clothes and Barbie underwear at Target. Figgy, H. and I have all done a turn trying to calm Punch into sleep but she still isn't buying it, not even after her warm bubble bath.
I didn't get to Mass today. I slept instead. But never a Sunday passes--except rarely, when I'm traveling--when I don't think I should be there. Then I close my eyes, sink back into sleep and trust that God will understand.
Good night.
