I remember bathtime when our Figgy was little. The bath toys--a brown puppy to wash the skin with, a cute mermaid whose tail turned color in the water. The John Denver music I played on CDs. A shake of pure white baby powder. The white fleece robe with a collar and front zip, pink ribbon. Later, the fresh bathrobe, blue with white clouds, a gift from Auntie, after drying off. The feeling of protecting and caring for girl, setting a routine, putting a clean cap on the day for a fresh start in the morning, and then start all over again.
Same for Skippy....but she was less calm. Still, a terrycloth towel turban after, a bathrobe with a belt. I sometimes added a few drops of lavender essential oil to the bathwater because I thought it might soothe her harried soul.
It is bathtime for me now.
Good night.
