Big Screen: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Carrie Fisher, Princess Leia. Here is the LINK for photo.

Spoiler Alert: IDK, maybe last paragraph?
If so, I'm sorry! Just so stunning.

I don't think I've ever seen a "Star Wars" film--is that even possible?*--but this one was so hyped that H., who has seen them, got us tickets yesterday for tonite's 7 p.m. 3-D screening at the Bellevue Theatre in Montclair. Long line of ticket holders by 6:15!

Even though I've been in the dark side on this franchise, I was familiar with/have seen these "Star Wars" trademarks: Harrison Ford, Darth Vader, the robot R2-D2, Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia with braids wound on her head, and the phrase May the force be with you. Ford and Fisher are in it again; love that. They both look older--of course, since they first appeared in 1977--but she still has a crown of braids.

It was engaging and exciting and the place where the final scene is shot is breathtaking. Looked like Ireland. Yes, per Wikipedia: On July 29, 2014, filming took place over three days at Skellig Michael island off the coast of County Kerry in Ireland....It was a place I'd love to see in person. Absolute edge of the earth. Good night.

TCOY
1. Support group. Had conflicts on Saturdays for weeks, and had to miss. Good to be back!
2. Nap.
3. Movies
4. Bought ingreds to make butternut squash soup tomorrow.

*I follow my friend Kim's blog; she and her friend Liz are movie buffs. And Liz said in a comment to Kim that she saw the 1977 "Star Wars" 12 times! I can't believe I missed the boat [or spaceship].

So Much I Want to Write--

--but it's 12:35 a.m. and I have to rise and shine to meet Mimi partway on Garden State Parkway at 8:45 a.m. She is taking Punchy overnight and they will have their special Christmas breakfast with extended family on Sunday. Good night, sweet dreams.

TCOY
1. Umm...nothing? Wait, did see Moey and Ted to catch up over dinner tonite at their house.
2. And: When I went to Talbots for H's Mom's gift, did not waste money on accessories I don't need, even IF entire store was 40 percent off. It was tempting. Overspending and overeating sometimes go hand in hand. Maybe do the former, feel guilty or shameful about it, and figure why not add to the damage with a cupcake or thick slice of gingerbread when you order your cup of turkey chili at the sandwich shop.
3. H. took Lex to appt and I took a nap.
4. Christmas music.

Greedy for Sleep, Good Night

I love to go to bed!

TCOY
  1. Boot camp in the park. I was slow as molasses, again, but still felt proud to go. Also, was late paying our leader, Gary, for my latest 12-pack, $204. Felt good to catch up!
  2. Walked to and from salon to get gray covered. Hit 12,059 steps on my fitbit.
  3. Worked productively on two projects.
  4. Had some turkey chili.
  5. Walked by bakery with its swirly top storybook cupcakes.
  6. Punch and I baked sugar cookie cutouts together. It was fun, and brought back memories of baking with Fig.
  7. Good dental care.

My Global Support Staff

Just got off a call that took over an hour, to update my McAfee security software. I renewed my yearly subscription for about $42 yesterday and for some reason had a problem downloading it.

Isn't it interesting, in a way, talking to people so far away? [It's not so interesting when you are in a crisis and need support, but....] Especially when, like Allen just did, they access your computer remotely, navigating and clicking on your screen right before your eyes? It truly is kind of futuristic and cool. Kind of Mission Impossible.

Allen is in the Philippines. He has not been to the United States. He said he's too busy working and doesn't have the money for that. He said they had a typhoon in the last few days, that it was rainy, but it's sunny now. He said it was noon there when my clock said 11 p.m. It was lunchtime a day ahead, on Wednesday, Dec. 16.

Thank you, Allen.

Good night.
