Refueling in Cos Cob

Drove into NYC to chauffeur Sis home from NYU outpatient surgery. Stayed here at her condo in Connecticut so I could help her out. Torn between helping Dad in the hospital or Sis here; chose here. Sis is always busy taking care of her husband, or our Dad, and so I was happy to take care of her a little bit.

On my way home tomorrow, I'll see Dad at Englewood Hospital again.

Greenwich Avenue
Sis's husband, Don, took us out to a nice dinner at the Thataway Cafe on Greenwich Avenue, one of the poshest shopping streets I've ever been on outside of Madison Avenue, Michigan Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard. I really enjoyed being treated to a square meal--sizzling chicken fajitas--and a glass of crisp Riesling.

Sis and I took a walk on Greenwich Avenue after dinner. Browsing heaven. Saw the Tory Burch store, the Lilly Pulitzer store. Both were closed, so plan to go back tomorrow. Intimate bistros, nice sidewalk dining. Hermès--with a beautiful blue handbag in the window, a luscious narrow orange scarf tied to the handle. So pretty! Will I ever own an Hermès bag and/or scarf? I doubt it. Will I copy that color combination in other ways, from a scarf with a sweater to a potful of pansies? Yes, quite likely.

BTW, just went to hermes.com. Thank God my tastes are not that lavish! A sweater for $195 would be peanuts compared to this. I'm not 100% sure, but I think the bag in the window was the
Unisex Jypsiere Shoulder Bag
Blue Jean clemence bullcalf
13.4" x 10.2" x 5.9"
$7,600.00 yes you read that number right

And I think the lovely orange scarf was a Silk Twilly, $285.

We also walked by the water, the boats, the docks, the Indian Harbor Yacht Club where Sis and Don married--on a sparkling October day, on a boat docked in the water--almost 15 years ago.

And now I'm about to write a least one paragraph of my book proposal. As Eugene F. Ware said, All glory comes from daring to begin.
