Saturday Night TV

You're gonna make it after all.
I rarely have time for TV. I'm usually too busy, too tired or the remote is in the hand of the man who lives here, or Figgy, and I don't want to watch what's on. [H. has laughed at "Groundhog Day" and hung on every word of "The Godfather" a zillion times. They must be like cookies and milk for him--familiar and comforting.]

But tonight, Fig is babysitting 6:30 to 12:30 and H. is working at a party. So here I am, comfy on the couch, Sug in exhausted position on the overstuffed chair.

I channel surfed, and I liked it. Found light, romantic "27 Dresses" and funny "Everybody Loves Raymond" reruns, then "Meet the Parents."

As a teen, I loved watching "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" with my parents, and Bob Newhart and Carol Burnett. We three sat and laughed on the cracked black fake-leather couch, sometimes holding bowls of Sealtest rocky road ice cream. That memory makes me happy.

Good night.

TCOY
  1. Walked Sug around block once.
  2. Raked and bagged leaves with H.--for fresh air, exercise and to do a big chore together.
  3. Made nice soup with that jar of Williams-Sonoma organic butternut squash puree bought on Black Friday.

  1. I'm with you on the TV thing. I keep it for when I am truly brain dead, or I have a chore that only takes a small amount of attention. But I like doing the searching with control of the remote to myself.

I also have a couple of shows I watch with my girl, and the main reason I watch them is because we are watching together.

  2. Hi Nan. I hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving and that your family is doing well. Figgy and I like to watch: Desperate Housewives and Pan Am, but rats, both are being cancelled. She and her friends are into this creepy American Horror Story on FX at 10 P.M. Wed. with Jessica Lange and Frances Conroy. It is R-rated and I hate horror stories but somehow this one is really gripping and very well-crafted, written and acted and I am often on the couch right next to her now. Though deeply creepy, somehow, I don't get nightmares from watching it. Best, alice
