Yay, the show is finally back after what felt like the world's longest hiatus. Two-hour season premiere! Back on the couch with Don Draper, Roger Sterling, Sally, Peggy, Joan--endlessly entertaining*. Especially the dresses and furnishings and view of Madison Avenue advertising world in the 1960s. H., Figgy and I watched. I made salmon, salad and roasted potatoes for dinner and we ate on TV trays. [It was a late dinner, and they had eaten snacks at the movies.]
I won't be taking ordinary stuff for granted anymore--like sitting in the living room with my family and the dog watching Sunday night TV, or finally getting around to dusting the old table and the cherished framed photos on it. You need time and space and good fortune to do all of that. Good night.
*Morning-after note: I didn't mean that watching civil rights struggles is entertaining, and I grappled with that when I wrote that sentence. But seeing the protests on the episode last night was enlightening and eye-opening and I liked being taken back in time.

- 12 o'clock Mass. I liked part of the sermon: Life is a journey. I knew that, but liked hearing it from the pulpit, to remind me.
- Walked Sug around block twice.
- Nap.
- Raked the backyard, to better showcase pink and yellow hyacinths, red tulips, Tiny Dancer and regular daffs.
- Hot bubble bath.
- Made a simple strawberry dessert [wanted to test it for a publication I'm working on]. Not very high-calorie, but elegant, fresh, good.
- One day @ a time.
Hi, Al. I DVRed it and watched it this morning (can't stay up that late on Sundays). Worth waiting for. But I don't get the new wife – seems like she is more of a girlfriend type. Guess we'll find out more. I agree. It's such an interesting time in history.
