A Monday in May on Mulberry Street

I like the tinsel-y decor.
So I had my outfit all ready for a noon work interview. I had gotten the bus, applied my makeup, smoothed my hair, latched my charm bracelet, put on my pantyhose. But no sooner did I close the cab door at the Port Authority to go to SoHo then my engagement ring got caught on my left thigh and a big run started. But that's the good thing about nude shades--the runs really don't show up.

The meeting went well, looks like maybe I can get some regular work assignments, and that's always a good thing. But what went best about it is that I was calm and collected and confident, not nervous. I like the way the editor and I connected. After I left Crosby Street, I walked a bit and then found myself wandering around on Mulberry Street....

Now I'm going to meet Sis to go out for her birthday dinner with her work friends. Before that, I will give her back a very important piece of paper--the one I signed relinquishing my share in the Cape Cod house. My other siblings, Sis and JJ, had already signed away their shares. My brother Will and his partner, Kelly, are buying the house on Wonderstrand Way and Will says of course he will let us go, in the shoulder seasons, when the house isn't rented or occupied by him and Kelly.

This is what Dad wanted. For years, he wanted Will to buy the house, to have an income source, to make it his own [though Dad wanted us to still be able to stay there, too].

So as I signed, I thought of my good Dad.

More to come.

TCOY
  1. Good tooth care.
  2. Walked around Village, Little Italy and SoHo.
  3. Lots of broccoli rabe on my lunch sandwich.
