Hudson Valley Afternoon

The colorful window box at HiHo.

Blue sky over Main Street.
In the Christmas room, a flocked tree with all pink vintage ornaments. So, so pretty.
Drove to Gardiner, NY today to check out HiHo Home Market on Main Street and interview the owner, Heidi. What a beautiful view of the mountains....and I loved the store....room after room in an old 1890s house, each dedicated to a theme, whether kitchen [with old cookbooks, actual one-pound cardboard butter boxes, white enamel-topped table]; midcentury; or my very favorite, Christmas.

Also had an excellent sandwich at Village Market & Bakery.  It was made with grilled chicken, melted cheese and perfectly spiced chipotle mayonnaise. So delicious. Then I stopped at Mike's Hothouse and bought a delphinium for the garden. I like bringing back a part of where I've been.

I knew I was in a different place from home because I saw a street called Gun Shop Road; a dead deer on the roadside [the two were not related--the deer was hit by a car]; and a couple of cute dairy bars offering ice cream and burgers.

I'll be writing about Heidi and HiHo for Asp1re Magazine.

Good night.
