Bright Lights, Big City

Near Grand Central Station at about 9:30 P.M.
I miss my New York City! My exciting date, the one who arrives at the door lit up with a perfect white smile....wearing a slim-fit button-down shirt.....toting enough energy for both of us to seize the world and our dreams...and in his hip pocket, facts about the best place to get anything, from a dainty white cupful of espresso to steamed dumplings.

Took the bus in at 5:10 to meet Sis and co. for dinner at Cibo on Second Avenue at 41st Street for her friend/colleague Nicole's birthday. Very nice to be waited on, have fluffy mashed potatoes swirled into a perfect peak, my water glass refilled again and again--and a slice of chocolate layer cake from Magnolia Bakery. Good, and different, to be at a table with five people who are doctors [like Nicole] and/or scientifically minded.

But the traffic in was terrible--took me almost 2 hours vs. 20 minutes or so for the bus ride home. Still, walking Sis to Grand Central was a treat. I hope I never tire of seeing the beautiful zodiac signs on the majestic ceiling there. How many of us have craned our necks to study them?

Good night.

  1. Ha ... nice imagery there in your opening paragraph, Alice! I never thought about it in those terms, but yes, that is definitely the feeling I get in NYC.
