South Beach Lights

H.'s cousin Mary Jane and her husband, Tony, fly up North a lot to see us and New York City [and their son and daughter]. They live here in Boca Raton, so they drove over to pick us up and take us to Miami for dinner.

Tony was born and raised in Cuba and knows good Cuban food. We went to La Carreta on 8th Street in Miami. Excellent roast pork, succulent and perfectly seasoned, tres leches cake that was rich and right [not bitter like a good-looking version I once bought], a spoon of Sis's incredible flan--and a tiny cup of Cuban coffee, too strong for my taste. Then Tony drove us all to South Beach. What a scene. Art Deco buildings, neon lights, more glitter-trimmed and chain-linked cover-ups and shirts than I've ever seen in one place before. Plus live dancers, margarita glasses as huge as fishbowls, cigars....and the mansion where Versace lived.

Good Miami Beach night.

TCOY
  1. Went to hotel gym with Sis after breakfast. Biked 35 minutes and burned 157 calories.
  2. Lilly Pulitzer store.
  3. Lauderdale-by-the-Sea beach.....for a brief walk and rest by the waves.
  4. Walked 9,931 steps today, according to my fitbit flex.
