Ringing in the Party Season

The blinking lights, cheese platters, cookie plates. Spiral-cut ham, Beaujolais. We went to the first of several Christmas parties tonight, up the hill on Highland Road. Liked the crackling fire, the small old-fashioned angels lined up on the molding over the living room threshold. Then home again to pay our golden sitter, who had played prince and princess at Punchy's request. Good night & good tidings.
