From Oyster Knife to High-End Sofa

Finished that big writing deadline! So relieved! Corn holders, collard greens chopper, salad tongs, BBQ brush. But now it's time to switch gears and get back to writing tomorrow about a pretty Upper East Side residence for Aspire Design and Home Magazine.

And so it goes, moving from words like briny shellfish and jagged oyster shells to garden terrace, Prewar building  and staircase to the children's room.

I got a nice large latte from Little Daisy Bake Shop to help me power through the work today. At the moment, their brew is my favorite in  Montclair, better than Java Love, Gina's Bakery, Montclair Bread Company, Red Eye Cafe, Bluestone, Le Salbuen, Raymond's, Jackie's Grillette and of course giant chain Starbucks. It's the Little Daisy bean blend from Red House Roasters in Union City, NJ. It's not sharp, biting, oddly fruity or overpowering. It's mellow and comforting. Old-fashioned, even, like it could be poured from a battered silver percolator to accompany a thick slice of Little Daisy's buttery gingerbread loaf or a classic scone.

Good night.
