Lunch in Tribeca with My Friend & Former Boss

Donna was Lifestyle Director at Good Housekeeping when I was Senior Lifestyle Writer.
What a fun ride. Her son, Roy, and my Figgy were practically babies
when we started working together.
Today I met Donna for lunch. She lives in Tribeca, and suggested this really great place called Maman Tribeca. Donna said she knew I'd love it, and she was right. French [quiche, etc.] and American dishes and very special desserts. I let myself have the chocolate chunk cookie, served warm on a pretty little saucer. For lunch, I had the deconstructed avocado toast.

We hadn't seen each other in a few years and it was a treat to catch up. I admire Donna greatly--not just for being a good boss/editor and friend, fashion role model, mother and writer, but also for being near the top of the masthead at many top publications, including Women's Wear Daily, Self, Good Housekeeping and most recently, InStyle. She even did a stint at the Wall Street Journal's lifestyle section this year!

I loved the electricity of being in the city on this sunny fall day. The stylish people, the chic restaurant, the subway's unique ability to get us everywhere fast for a few bucks.

But then I hopped the E train and bus through the tunnel and over the roads back home and got right back to writing about strawberry hullers and apple corers for my job for Bradshaw International/GoodCook brand, based in California. Some tasks are harder than others, but this tricky round of copy has 70 items on a spreadsheet, and each requires 6 columns filled in [marketing copy, bullets, use and care]. It's my job, among other things, to tell you how to use perfectly uniform apple wedges once you've cut them--dip in caramel or melted chocolate, dust with cinnamon and sugar, use as yogurt topping, etc.....those bullet points are designed to make you want the product when you see it on Amazon.

I sit at my desk surrounded by mango slicers and lemon zesters, so I can write accurately and truthfully about them.

Good night to you.
