Once in a rare while, I get to church on time. But when I go with Punchy, we are nearly always late.
Today we let Figgy take the car since she had to work at Petco from 7 to 4. Yesterday she biked there but today we had no pressing need for wheels. Fortunately, it was a blue-sky day, nice for walking the 20 minutes to church. Well, I walked, and Punch did front flips a lot of the way there and spoke in a British accent the whole way back.
We missed a lot of Mass but did not miss:
- The chance to tuck a folded five dollar bill ["suggested donation"] in the metal box and have Punch light a candle in memory of her Daddy, my Daddy, my Mommy and her Mommy. The first three up above, no longer on the Earth w us.
- The opportunity to "offer each other a sign of peace," aka shake hands and say "Peace be with you."
- The altar servers, boys and girls in black and white, holding the tall white candles.
- The Holy Water.
- The closing words: The Mass is ended. Go in peace.
Good night.
TCOY
- Day 2 no sweet treats.
- Drifted into delicious afternoon nap on couch--after cupfuls of tea with honey and milk and cream in our wedding china, at a little tea party with Punch and her pal at our dining room table.
- That walk to and from church.
- Punch gave me a facial.
