An ongoing quest for the meaning of life. Does true happiness exist in a Tory Burch turquoise-trimmed sheath, a MarieBelle Dark Chocolate Croquette bar, a rose garden, a rocky Maine beach, a daughter's eyes, an inky star-sprinkled sky, hours of computer keystrokes that tell a story--or all of the above?
🛌 hope your sleep was delicious! I like your belief of fashion as a shield. Me too, though I am kind of erratic. There’s a New England thing in me, like Anne Hathaway in devil wears Prada, that fashion is not a worthy thing to spend much time on. And I admire people who truly do not care.
ReplyDeleteBut in the total view of appearances count, I can’t easily change my face or body, but I sure as hell can put on cute earrings... I am sticking to my no new clothes rule for 2018, but that leaves vintage! I am getting a fitted tan jacket and a silvery gray cashmere sweater for my birthday. This has been a HUGE birthday with Hamilton, and getting my iPad screen replaced, and now clothes... Yay, 57! Enjoy a piece of cake with my twin!

Oh!fitted tan jacket and silvery gray cashmere sweater sound lovely! So are they vintage—from where? I am in awe of no new clothes for a year—even accessories? I don’t think I could do it. Happy, happy birthday, Liz! Enjoy, all the best. Love Alice
DeletePs but Dan was once helping me clean up my closet and said “You will never be able to wear all of the clothing you have over the course of your lifetime. I don’t understand how you can still buy more.” We are kind of style opposites, he and me.
