Must Sleep

Productive day.

  • Dropped off Country Apple Cake for Staff Appreciation Day when I--
  • Arrived at Punchy’s elementary school to help out a little in the library, logging in and shelving books for about 1.5 hrs. Really interesting books there, including biographies about MLK, Harriet Tubman, Mariah Carey, the man who built Lady Liberty, and others, plus lots of great fiction and adventure stories.
  • Got Punch’s Rx, the ADHD med she takes every schoolday morning, just in the nick of time, since we ran out. On rare occasions, teachers will call me when Punch mentions that she didn’t have her medicine and I’m expected to drive to school with it.
  • Worked on my laptop at Starbucks.
  • Took break to walk at Brookdale Park track with Elly for 1.25 hours, 2:15 to 3:30 p.m.
  • Back to Starbucks w laptop.
  • Thought through my next work steps.
  • Book group tonight. We normally meet at one of our homes, but this time, we met at Egan’s restaurant to discuss our last pick, Kitchen Confidential  by Anthony Bourdain.

But it wasn’t all smooth. Punch was defiant this morning and I yelled, which led to even more defiant behavior. And she has been very fresh tonite.

Oy.

  1. Yay for productivity! Can you ask F if she remembers anything that would have worked in 4th grade? I am surprised by how well my sons remember certain things. And good for you to have allies! Hope today is productive and happy.

    1. Good morning, Liz. That is an excellent idea and thank you. Figgy does give us good insights and I will ask her about this. It’s not unusual for her to return from a visit w Mimi or w her birth mom and to treat us very disrespectfully and in a mean manner. I heard Figgy say once, “Punch [insert real name here{, I know we’re not your biological family but you can’t treat us this way” or something like that. Punch heard her. Punch’s feelings must be swirled up inside because she is not w her birth family et al but the way she treats us can be really mean. Today I go to weekly therapy w her after school. Thanks again. Hope your boys are doing great. X Alice

  2. Wow, F is awesome! And I love the way you try to understand why P hurts you, instead of just reacting to it. You guys are such a nice family!
