[Very Lightly] Padding the Sadness

Disappointed to find out I’m not moving on to next round for job I wanted--and believe I was a very good fit for.

Spent zero $ all day until just now [8:41 p.m.], when I ordered the very pretty Tulip Lace Bra at 40 percent off sale price at commando.com.

It would not be inaccurate to say that I needed a new bra anyway.

I’m about to scrub the tub with cleanser and white vinegar. I took down curtains to wash before I read the bad-news email. I roasted red cabbage. It was good.

Good night.

$ MONEY SPENT OUT OF POCKET
  • Bra, commando.com sale, $41.80.
Will update stats tomorrow.
Ok, here is update Tuesday morning:

DAILY TOTAL: $41.80.
RUNNING TOTAL FOR MONTH AS OF MARCH 25: $3730.12.
SO FAR, THAT'S AN AVERAGE DAILY SPEND OF: $149.20.
MONEY THOUGHT: It's hard not to succumb to impulse spending online. Really hard, because there are tempting sales, coupon codes, new product updates and more from sites I love, including Tory Burch, Trish McEvoy, Kiel James Patrick, Aerin and Commando, to name just five. A new fragrance! Stylish pumps. An anchor bracelet. Feminine beach cover-up [several hundred dollars, but exquisite, especially as modeled by elegant Aerin, who is Estée Lauder's granddaughter]....sometimes I think I take the bait for the sale items because I cannot afford the really expensive things. Anyway, I was feeling low about the job--even though I've been applying for others and told myself this situation would unfold as it should. So when I was on the couch after dinner, I pounced on the pretty, lacy bra online. Fashion to soften life's blows.
Tell me, do you shop online? Are you tempted 24/7? That's what online retailers want....what are your favorite shopping sites?

  1. Job hunting stinks, but your sunny outlook is a big asset, so hang in there. The biweekly hamster cleaning, even after bad behavior, is heartwarming. I hope P gets a chance to be to some little girl what F is to her. And we love having Will home, that hilarious eccentric son of ours.

    1. Hi Liz....glad you have your Will back...it's nice to live with them as adults, right? Not that it won't also be nice to watch them thrive independently....P has a very good chance of having a big sister role as she has a little sister in her birth family...now age 1....this will be tricky, though, from my
perspective....complicated....no easy answers....but to see Fig and Punch together last night, working on cleaning the cage, Punch asking Fig about middle school in between, and adoring her older sister, without words, but with body language....gift. Love Alice
