Watch the Hundred Dollar Bill Vanish

Sometimes, clients pay Dan in cash for events at which he is hired to write 60-Second Novels. That was the case recently, and I had a one hundred dollar bill.

Here is how I spent it today.

$ MONEY SPENT OUT OF POCKET
  • Cash for gift cards presented last night at Teachers' Toast. The organizer had covered for me and I dropped cash at her house today. This was divided among two main teachers and "paras,' the helpers. $40. I generally give more since it is divided among so many people, but was conservative this time.
  • Valley Girl, really pretty necklace, half price, $24.50.
  • Caswell- Massey Sandalwood soap on a rope for Dan, Father's Day, with tax, $23.46.
  • Java Love, vegan raw grain bar for Fig, $4.
  • Kings, chicken breast and tapioca pudding [P. request], $9.28.

  • total $101.23
    plus
    Marcel, large mushroom barely soup and smoky eggplant dip with bread and water
    with my friend Anne, $13.

    TOTAL SPENT OUT OF POCKET: $114.23.
    MONTHLY TOTAL AS OF JUNE 8: $969.62.
    AVERAGE DAILY SPEND SO FAR: $121.20.

    MONEY THOUGHTS: Big June spends include Ubers while our only car was in shop;
    Joyist morning, $37; teachers' toasts tickets, $74; teachers' gift, $40;
    and Aerin sale at Williams-Sonoma, $78. It is only June 8 and I am nearly
    at $1,000. Better watch it.

    KEEPING AN EYE ON PAST MONTHS

    MAY TOTAL SPEND: $2,348.24.
    MAY AVERAGE DAILY SPEND: $75.75.

    APRIL TOTAL SPEND: $3,634.28.
    APRIL AVERAGE DAILY SPEND: $121.14.
