Lulled to Sleep

Want to write something substantial but lulled into sleepiness...just enough energy to watch my beloved "Mad Men" first. Good night.

    I'd like the quinoa recipe if you don't mind. It's one of the grains I'd like to incorporate into my diet more.

  2. Hi Heidi. I bought a bag of quinoa at whole foods. Follow directions to cook 2 cups. [Our friend John from boot camp says don't forget to rinse the dry quinoa first before cooking it, and others say so, too.] I got the idea for mint and scallions on a recipe off the bag. But what I did yesterday is toast some walnuts in a skillet with a little olive oil, salt and pepper until browned [watch carefully, stir often]. Then I tossed them with the quinoa, cooked shrimp, a little more olive oil, crumbled feta cheese, steamed zucchini chunks, halved cherry tomatoes, sliced scallions and chopped fresh mint. Then more salt and pepper and a good squeeze of fresh lemon juice. I seem to love this dish more than the rest of my family, but I'm confident they will come around. We all missed you and michael today. And remember, coffee with nicky 9:30 this thursday april 26. love alice

  3. Hi Heidi..i forgot to say that I think of quinoa kind of like brown rice, and I like it with a splash of soy sauce, even with all of the ingredients I mentioned. :)
