I'm bored with calling my husband H. in this blog. It seems so flat, so formal, old-fashioned somehow. It just falls short, and it isn't fun to write, to weave into blog posts--like the name Figgy is for our teen daughter. It doesn't have a fun set of twin consonants or a lively ring. H.--dull.
So....since I come from a family that's big on nicknames, figured I'd ponder a few, and I'd love your feedback. My Dad always made up funny names....he called me Schmadsen and my brother Will Schmidlo. My mother was occasionally known as the Moonyack because sometimes she'd say I'm so mad I could bark at the moon or something like that.
Here are some other well-known pet names:

So funny. I have so many nicknames for my dogs that when they go to doggie heaven and St. Peter asks for their names, they'll have a list to give him. My husband will, too. I was always disappointed that I was not given a nickname. Heidi
ReplyDeleteI like Coffee Boy. Or how about Story Man?
ReplyDeleteHeidi...hi! I know. Your dogs are so cute. I call Sugar lots of strange names. Because the Bichon is a French breed, I sometimes lean toward French ones. The list includes: Aunt Josephine, Ball of Fatness and Fur, Baby Nurse and more. [When we had our little baby in our care, Sugar would follow me around when the baby cried, leap to her feet, etc.] see you shortly. love alice
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I've never thought to give them French nicknames. Our dogs are also French. I call Eva Mrs. Tutu-pants, Teeteepahpoo (don't know where that came from), Mama, and Behbee. Thornton gets called Mr. Highgrass, Ibby, Sir Drinksalot. He also has a middle name, Penobscot, which I believe suits his regal bearing. Now you know how truly strange I can be. See you tomorrow!
DeleteHeidi, I like those names! Dogs are such characters and add such richness to our lives.....yes, see you tomorrow. Hi to my friend Michael. :)
