My Hip Lunch with Robert [and Sharon]

Stylish Little Black Dress.
Met my friend Sharon for lunch; she has a big job in the Good Housekeeping Research Institute, and we used to work together when I was on staff @ GH. We've stayed friendly ever since.

Sharon asked where I wanted to go and I said I like trendy. Before I knew it, she told me we had a table @ Robert on the 9th floor of the Museum of Arts and Design at 2 Columbus Circle.

But the view, the view! We had a noon reservation. I got there about 11:45 and was taken to the best table by the window, overlooking Columbus Circle and Central Park. It was so lovely. The weather was perfect and you could see for miles and miles.

The color scheme was punchy pink, purple and orange--by the door, a tall glass vase full of candy-colored, candy-covered almonds.

We also loved our Caesar salads [mine with shrimp, Sharon's with chicken]. And Sharon sipped a watermelon lemonade; I had a mint lime rickey. The cappuccino was very nicely done, and the puffy ricotta fritters we shared [with caramel and chocolate dunking sauces] were indulgent. So good to catch up with Sharon, too.....to share our stories as we travel through life....

"They have a really nice gift shop, too," Sharon said as we parted.

"I know," I said. "I noticed it on the way in and want to to check it out."

Found something I really needed, something that could change my life: the Little Black Dress Hanging Jewelry Organizer [$32]*, with hook and loop tabs on one side and clear storage pockets on the other. I really can't wait to dive in and get organized. That way, I can crave less and save more, because I will be able to see and wear the many pretty accessories I already own--from my Stella & Dot white fabric flower pin to my Tory Burch clover necklace.

*Oops, just checked that site link above and the LBD is $20 there. But it's ok. I don't mind supporting MAD, a superchic place. My style quotient was pumped up immeasurably today.

TCOY
  1. Had that salad instead of the Flat Iron Steak, House Fries and Maitre d'Hotel butter, which really caught my eye.
  2. Walked to Port Authority from Columbus Circle.
  3. Private Benjamin twice--once alone and once with family.
  4. Going to bed now. Tired.

  1. Just met a writer friend there for lunch about 2 weeks ago! It was fun! I had the salmon. I loved the candy in the jar...and, of course, the view!
