Porch Bake Sale to Raise Dough

gourmet-getaway-lunch-tote-lush-flower.jpg

Hi everyone. Above is the raffle prize for this Wednesday's back-to-school bake sale to help Toni's Kitchen. It's a beautiful Built brand Gourmet Getaway Lunch Tote [insulating neoprene, with zipper], retail value $24.95, with a $10 Starbucks card inside. [It will brighten days of lunch-toting adults, too!] Chances are $1 each. Winner need not be present to win.

And if you are planning to bake, please let me know...thank you. Sale is Wednesday, September 5 from noon to 4 p.m. on the Braleys' porch, 10 Nassau Road. All money goes directly to Toni's Kitchen, toniskitchen.org.

This lunch tote cheers me up so much, I couldn't help posting on my blog the email [above] that I sent to my neighborhood listserve. I learned years ago when Moey and I did the Avon Breast Cancer Walk that bake sales really can rake in the dough for a good cause. The bike ride in Amish Country is this coming weekend. And this year, Figgy is planning to bike, too, and H. is coming as a Support Car [picks you up if you get tired].
What cheers me up even more is that wonderful Elly, Liliana, Barbara, Anne, Beth F., Beth P., Linda, Paige, and Karen have volunteered to bake! We don't have a porch, so my neighbor Sally [also doing the bike ride this year] is lending us hers. I'm planning to make pumpkin whoopie pies and maybe, little apple tarts. I hate to part with that lunch tote; it is so pretty!!!! And I already have $16 in advance raffle ticket sales!
Good night. Fig is back home [but walked to nearby Applegate Farms to get ice cream with her friend], and Punch is sleeping over. Better get to sleep. But will first tape note on front door telling Fig to come into our bedroom and tell me when she is home.

  1. H. and I cleaned, scrubbed, organized with Figgy away in the Catskills. Feels good.
