Sue's son, Matt; Cathy's husband, Ian; and H. before the Spring Lake Five race. It was rainy this morning when we left Montclair at 6:15, and for most of the ride down the Parkway. |
Andy and Patsy, who invited us all to join in the run. They are incredibly fast--and kind and funny. |
Sue, my boot camp friend who keeps me laughing. |
With H. before the run. Wow, Sue's hair looks beautiful, H. has a hat and mine looks like hell. Now you understand better why I so relish my weekly salon blowouts. :) |
Have heard about this legend for years--finally got to the Scone Pony this afternoon. The one brownie I brought back to Montclair is perhaps the best I've ever had, bar none. Rich, buttery, fudgy and glazed with a shiny lick of chocolate. |
The bakery is known for scones, cakes, pies and more. I saw some nice-looking petit fours, too. |
Flowers by Colleen, so inviting. |
TCOY
- Ran five miles--even if at slow, slow, slow crab pace--and then walked another mile and a half back to Pats and Andy's house.
- Breathed in ocean air, even if it did whip my hair relentlessly.
- Friends, laughter, drive to shore and back with H., sleeping while he drove home.
Woo Hoo!!! Five miles! SOOOO very proud of you!

Nan, thank you!!!!!!!!!!!! for being so supportive love alice
ReplyDeleteAlice, you look GOOD, girl! And remember, not everyone can run five miles, not by a long shot. You did GREAT ... keep it up!
ReplyDeleteI HAVE to get to the Scone Pony this summer. None of the South Jersey shore towns tug at my heart like Spring Lake.
Eileen, thank you my friend. Thank you! Yes, I know, I have been dying to get to the Scone Pony for years. But check the days--is it only open thursday through sunday? and it might close at 4 p.m.? well worth the visit. the only kind of scones they had left at 3:50 on Saturday were two apricot ones.....i was doubtful...but they were glazed and yummy...almost like donuts, so rich....my friend Pats likes the lemon poppy i think...love alice
