Since I felt like running away to the Caribbean by myself this week but couldn't, I went to Spring Lake for the day today. My friend Anne went with me.
We were only there from 11:25 until 2:30, but in that time, we stood high on the Pavilion deck and looked at the waves--contemplating motherhood and how it has changed from our childhood until now--walked in the surf to Sea Girt, went to The Scone Pony, ate lunch, and checked out a couple of shops. Then we were back in the car, heading home to beat the yellow schoolbus [for Punch] and field hockey pickup [for Anne's Emmy].
Unfortunately, a couple of minor accidents caused a big traffic backup on the Parkway North. Luckily, Elly hopped in her car to meet Punch on the corner. I am lucky.
Good night.

- Please see above. Even a few hours at the beach can be healing. We saw fishing poles, a crab, clam shells, beach umbrellas and jetties. We put our feet in the sand and the water.
