Petite Princessa's Birthday

Went to a surprise bday party tonight for petite, powerful Princessa, a spectacular athlete and friend with whom I had the honor of doing Patsy's boot camp for years.

Did I mention that she is a mother of three young men, the eldest two in college? That she is smart and poised and kind? That she loves fashion, like I do, and that when I once ran into her at CVS in the daytime, she was wearing the most beautiful flowy, pale pink scoop neck dress? On someone large and white, like me, it might have looked too revealing but on petite Princesssa, with her pretty cocoa skin, it looked lovely.

I was honored to lift my glass, eat excellent cheese, see our friends, have sliders passed by waiters, sing Happy Birthday. Honored that her husband and family invited me and H.--who had to miss it because he had a gig in Connecticut. Thankful for my sitter/friend, who not only watched Punchy but also lent me her car to drive over to Halcyon on Walnut Street.

May the wind be ever at your back, Princessa. And may life be beautiful and bright. You have proven to me again and again that the tiny can be mighty.
