Punchy was so excited for her play date at V’s house after school today. That turned into staying for pizza and then a sleepover there. Punchy lives for sleepovers. She loves them so much. She can’t seem to have a play date on the weekend without begging for it to end in a sleepover.
The very nice mom said both girls really wanted a sleepover. When Dan got back from working in NYC, he drove over w PJs, toothbrush and Punchy’s melatonin, prescribed by her doctor.
Figgy used to have a lot of sleepovers, too.
So--it’s peaceful here in our house. We love our Punch but she has been overwrought at bedtime lately. I guess she has a lot of anger and tumult in her heart and on her narrow shoulders, considering that her birth mom has another baby girl.
We are doing our best, Dan, Figgy, Sugar and me.
Good night.
TCOY
- Oatmeal w blueberries and nuts.
- Caught up with my friend Rachael for lunch. It’s been too long. We checked out da Pepo/La Cucina del Nonna, the new Italian restaurant attached to Watchung Booksellers in Montclair. #yum #sogood #kaleCaesarsalad #perfectpastawmushroomsandpeas The website is dapepo.com. I’ve been passing on pasta but heard such great things about this place. True!
- Made vegan PB/tahini/oatmeal/whole wheat flour cookies sweetened w applesauce. Dipped some in a little sleek Perugina 70 percent dark chocolate. It is hard to overindulge in these, they are so filling with all that fiber and protein and no refined sugar to create a frenzy or mood spike. Very good. I hope Figgy takes some on her ornithology field trip to Sandy Hook tomorrow [if it’s not postponed again due to weather].
- Peace and calm. Dan made excellent popcorn w melted butter and a beeswax candle burned on the mantel.
Good night. Must pick Punchy up 8:30 a.m.
glad u have your creative outlets of cooking and writing (and fashion, of course!), happy weekend
