Sis's bday was yesterday, Friday, April 26....I picked her up at Newark Airport today after her Florida trip and she came to our house for a little bday lunch and lemon cake. She loves lemon cake. I bought this one, though, steering clear of most baking. Then she picked up her sweet Buttercup--our lovable houseguest since Easter--and they headed back to Connecticut.
I tried to not go overboard with the spending, but still, things add up. My Sis likes fine caviar and blini as a splurge, so I bought them both at Kings. [I’ve even taken her OUT for caviar and the trimmings at The Russian Tea Room and Petrossian.]
I love my sister. Hope your weekend is going well.

MONEY THOUGHTS: Today at the checkout line at Kings, I picked up the two-serving bag of Fritos and put it back, thanks to my blogged effort to avoid these junky, salty snack bags. The groceries for Sis's bday lunch cost a lot but the way I look at it, Sis is worth it. And the gifts we got were modest. The Naked + Thriving Body Oil is a luxury, but I love to spritz it on dry skin after a shower. It's not greasy or sticky, doesn't feel like a coating--really does seem nourishing. And I noticed that Dan reaches out and touches my upper arm and hands.
