- I'm Alice and I've been writing for most of my life--first, in a little green five-year diary my friend Lorraine gave me for Christmas in 6th grade, then for newspapers, magazines, websites and companies. I've blogged here, often daily, since Feb. 2010, trying hard to write truthfully even when it's scary. My husband and I are now freelance writers, so sometimes still we can afford salmon for dinner and sometimes we can't. Our daughter (blog name Figgy) is an artist and scientist in cyanobacteria algae research. The teen we are raising as legal guardians but have loved as our own (code name Punch/Skippy/Spice/Spike) is in high school. Our days range from sunny to sad, successful, sweet or funny. Saw Harriet, really good movie. Beautiful, absorbing, not too harrowing. But weekend went so fast... hope yours was good!

Hi Liz. Oh, that movie sounds good. Punch saw Little Women for a second time, this time with a friend's family, and said she loved it. I have loved listening to it being read to me on Spotify while I clean my closet, which feels good. I have to tell Kim--I hear her voice in this story, and I know she loves it very much. I spent hours yesterday and still not thru. Feels so good to clear stuff out and take inventory, tho. I also took P and friend ice skating Friday night. For all of those good things, there was also a lot of painful emotional stress. Have a good week. Love Alice
