Montclair’s Church Street is lined with shops and restaurants. Dan and I went to Café Giotto, one of my favorites, for an early dinner alfresco.
We paid about $1 for the parking meter and Dan got wine, since the restaurant is BYOB, like most in our town, where liquor licenses are very limited and pass hands for a lot o money (million dollar rumor). I loved the spinach salad and the lamb with roasted potatoes.
But it’s been an emotional week for Dan, me and Fig re Skippy and we are tired. I was busy writing all day. When I stopped, I felt sad about Skipper. Nothing about our plan going forward is formal or final but we still are at a loss, for words, a workable plan, mended ways, etc.
On Church Street, I remembered all the things I/we have done with Skippy there:
- Doin’ Dishes ceramics studio.
- The Furrier, to browse mink and fox coats. I take an interest in Skip's style education. She asked the owner about the animals.
- Café Giotto (summer treat tiramisu, 13th bday tiramisu).
- The Italian gelato place.
- Le French Dad (croissants; we went for a pickup early in the pandemic).
- Raymond’s (dinner).
- The falafel place (with friends).
- The whole street (Montclair Bounce Festival, May 2019).
Good night.
Love dinner out, so happy weather is allowing it. Thinking of you all, with sadness re: the young one. Just know you have been doing your best.
ReplyDeleteHi Nan. Thanks for that kind note. As a dear friend of mine says, the story is not over. But it is at a difficult point for us in some ways. Love Alice
