It seems like our power goes out every time Mother Nature blinks in a rainstorm. Our whole block lost power today for about five hours starting around 9ish A.M. I think a tree branch hit a telephone pole on Valley Road....if I got the story straight....anyway, without the power I:
TCOY
- Took Sug for a long walk in the drizzle.
- Lit candles on the mantel. Fortunately it was daylight, though gloomy and gray.
- Felt chilly, wrapped in blankets. Thought about my neighbors with little babies and children, who must have been cold.
- Played a CD on my laptop before the battery died.
- Listened to Doris Day songs on the radio.
- Went through STACKS of bills, sorting and sifting and facing. Felt good.
- Had a really good cup of hot cocoa....we lit the gas burners with a match, so I could boil the milk. Figgy whisked it in a giant mug for me with Sarabeth's Hot Chocolate Parisienne, which is excellent [my first time]. And while it's $20 on the Sarabeth site, it goes for less at other places--at Kings last night, $14.99. I figure that every time I don't buy a Starbucks mocha, I can subtract $4 from the price of this, so I got a real bargain.
TCOY
- One day @ a time.
- That walk with Sug.
- Definitely going through those bills....I feel 10 lbs. lighter.
- Bartlett's flower and garden shop in Clifton with Figgy--we brought back the wrought-iron planters I bought there in the past, and Jean [sp?] filled them with gorgeous bulbs and pansies that Fig and I picked out. The lady is an artist. The planters look so gorgeous.
- Light reading and nap.
- Japanese food out with H. Yum. And good talk.
