Miami Nice

How glamorous, how chic--the Fontainebleau Miami Beach.
I will not be staying there,
but just the same, this photo makes me very happy.
I've been in Miami for two days now.

No, not really. But I'm writing about it, so I've been entrenched in details about hikes, hotels, restaurants and beaches. Little cups of strong Cuban coffee, dinners made with local catches and produce, frozen margaritas with salt on the rim. Beautiful [that was the chef's word] ravioli with eggplant and ricotta in the filling and a sprinkle of fine Parmigiano on top--at a South Beach restaurant where Harrison Ford and Daryl Hannah have been spotted [not together]. Bicycles with baskets. Campfires, lighthouses, kayaking, sunrise bird watching. Spa treatments--1.5 hour massages and "stiletto-ready" pedicures.

It has put me in a better state of mind.

And: H.'s cousin Mary Jane's son Patrick is getting married to Lauren April 2 in Boynton Beach, Florida, and we're going. H. hasn't been jumping around about it, but Figgy and I can't wait. It's been a long hard winter.

I've been to Miami before, when we've visited MJ in Boca Raton a couple of times. But I am travel-hungry now, and really look forward to being together for this happy occasion, going to Miami Beach for a day, feeling the sun, checking out C. Orrico, a store with a big pink Lilly Pulitzer selection in Palm Beach and tucking into some good Cuban food [MJ's husband, Tony, is from Cuba].

Of course, I will have to coordinate a lot of timing on a short trip with many people--three of H.'s brothers are even coming, from Maine--but I am sure I can find a way.

Viva Miami. Good night.
